ABOUT US
Digital Printing & Imaging (DPI) was founded by Barry
Heasley in Cape Town in 1996.
Barry, at the time the GM of Claude Neon, Brilliant Signs
and Mc Cullum & Stevens had decided that corporate life was
way to stressful for the rewards and had been looking around
for opportunities in the signage field with a view to
resigning and relocating back to Port Elizabeth.
Recognising that large format full colour printing was the
new future for signage manufacturers, Barry bought the
latest Novapro 50 inch wide format printer and began
production of posters outside of normal working hours. three
months later, after much agonizing and deliberation, Barry
decided to pack up corporate life and, with a heavy heart,
resigned form Claude Neon and relocated back to PE.
The arrival of the first large format full colour printer in
the Eastern Cape was greeted with much fanfare as most
people had never seen such a machine not witnessed it's
workings ! Barry's first few months in PE was mainly
involved in educating a brand new market of potential
customers and basically exposing this emerging market to
brand new technology never before witnessed in the Eastern
Cape - DPI made headlines in the business section of the
Weekend Post in September 1996 with an in depth article
accompanied by a large photograph of the DPI team posing
with the new Novapro large format printer.
Life was obviously not a bed of roses in a brand new market
and 3 years of endless marketing combined with guts and
perseverance followed before and semblance of a thriving
business was apparent.
Today some 11 years later, DPI has grown from strength to
strength and remains the leading large format printer in the
Eastern Cape with a number of the latest large format
printers producing superb quality at competitive prices.
In addition, DPI have expanded to a full blown signage
manufacturing business and have recently acquired and
installed a CNC Router Cutting Machine which produces
components from Perspex, wood and aluminum.
DPI Sign Industries is a well established force in the
Eastern Cape with a track record of high profiles clients
and projects.
We are situated at 203 Walmer Boulevard, South End, Port
Elizabeth and have also expanded to a brand new premises at
43 Webber Street directly behind the Walmer Boulevard
